Embarrassing Negro Moment

Today’s Embarrassing Negro Moment goes to everyone involved in the latest Foxy Brown controversy. Based on news reports and my own sources in New York, here’s the story:
Foxy went to the Pink Houses (a well-known housing project in East New York) to break up with her latest boyfriend. Why? Because she found out that he was a pimp (not a player, but a real life pimp) with a criminal record. Apparently, her boyfriend was not please with the decision and called up three of his “girls” (presumably prostitutes) to beat up up Foxy. After catching up to Foxy, the girls beat her down, ripped out her weave, and stole her Louis Vuitton purse, credit cards, cash, and Brown’s hearing aid (damn!). Soon after the beat down, Foxy rode around with police to help them find the assailants. The police arrested Roshawn Anthony, who Foxy Brown pointed out as the attacker, and sent her to Rikers Island in lieu of bail. The day after the attack, Foxy Brown denies cooperating with the police and says that she was never attacked.
WTF???
Although many people hate Foxy Brown, I hope that we do not find joy or humor in her latest circumstance. Finding out that you’re significant other is a pimp must be devastating. More importantly, no one deserves to be the recipient of public humiliation and unprovoked violence, no matter what we think about them.
While this hasn’t been said publicly, I’m inclined to think that Foxy changed her story to avoid looking like a “punk” or a “snitch” within the rap community. After all, her arch-enemy Lil Kim went to prison for a year to avoid snitching in a shooting. How could she “punk out” over a little old street fight? It’s retarded logic like this that undermines legitimate anti-snitching arguments.
Negro Please!!!!!!!

According to AllHipHop.com, Lil Wayne has dropped some more slick words for a senior-level rap star that many believe to be Jay-Z. On a recent track, Wayne said:
“You old ass rappers better stay on tour/ You like 44/ I got a 44/ I’m 24/ I could murk you and come out when I’m 44.”
Lines like these bother me for a couple of reasons. First, up until last year, Lil Wayne told everyone who would listen that Jay-Z was his favorite rapper. At one point, he was even trying to sign with Roc-a-Fella records. Now, he’s dissin Hov in public? That’s just corny… Also, as I wrote in my “Why Hip-Hop Sucks” series, I’m increasingly frustrated by the number of young cats that are using beef as a way to sell records. Unlike 50 Cent, who popularized that model for this generation, alot of the artists don’t have the talent to build on the attention they get from the lyrical feuds. (I still think 50 is a lyrical underachiever, but he knows how to make a hit!) Finally, I hate the lack of respect that newer cats have for oldheads. It’s one thing if you have legitimate beef or you engage in spirited competition, it’s another thing to disrespect one’s elders just for the hell of it.

Today’s video of the day is the “OJ Simpsons,” a spoof of The Juice’s post-trial life. This is funny!
