I think I’ve seen this movie before

According to news reports, Iran has successfully enriched uranium for the first time. This is a HUGE first step toward the development of nuclear fuel.

Of course, the UN has demanded the the Iranian government stop immediately. Iran has rejected all demands on the grounds that it has the right to be among the “club of countries possessing nuclear technology.”

The White House has immediately responded by saying that Iran is moving in the wrong direction. If they continue the standoff, the U.S. has already indicated that further action wil be discussed with the U.N. security council.

I’m not sure how this will turn out, but I’m not optimistic.

Yes we do. The problem we have isn’t with nuclear capabilites for energy, it’s the nuclear bomb that will eventually come along. That’s what scares the US and other 1st world countries.

I think that Iran has the right to pursue nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. They have not show any evidence that they are building weapons; moreover, this new enrhichment achievement is probably nothing more than just a small amount of uranium in a lab, not enough for a bomb.

‘Experts’ say it’ll take 5 years+ for Iran to make a nuclear bomb. I also have no problem with Iran seeking alternative energy sources. I have a problem with the media using fear to elicit reactions from the public. The more the general public is scared of a situation/people/bomb, the more TV and radio they listen to.
