I’m just trying to figure out why when Republicans (or anyone that is voting for McCain) discuss Obama’s “relationship” with Bill Ayers (who is a very respected educator http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/22/profs.support.ayers/index.html?eref=rss_us ) or any off the wall items desperately and sporadically pulled by the McCain machine that’s off the topic of the important issues like the economy, they feel they’re discussing something relevant. But when anyone wants to discuss John McCain’s 90% agreement with George Bush, his unsuccessful attempts at really being a maverick in the Senate, and Sarah Palin’s current issues with Alaska and her dress code, Republicans want to jump back on the issues of the economy. They avoid they’re own off-topic issues when we play it their way, yet expect us to believe they are committed to everything they say. I hear this EVERYDAY on CNN and Faux News, so to hear it on NPR just makes it even more apparent that the Republican party is desperate and will do anything to try to find any way to climb back from behind.

What also baffles me is their definition of negative ads? MAJORITY of McCain’s adds have been borderline slander going the route of creating a slow destruction of Obama’s image using thin relationships in his past time to defame his character instead of finding legit reasons that we should not trust his policies or his method of change. I’ve definitely seen some of the same from the Obama’s campaign but not as much yet he’s raised almost 3 times the amount of money than John McCain. Majority of the commercials from Obama compare Obama’s ideologies and policies to John McCain’s like a political ad should be run. That’s not a negative ad in the sense that it personally attacks the character of John McCain.

So who should I trust? Obama who has put himself out there openly in books, come clean in discussing all attacks against him, and put most of his focus on the issues at each debate only tuning to the off-topic antics when they need to be properly defended. Or McCain who makes off the wall decisions because he’s so “mavericky”, can’t stay calm in the face of danger, only speaks of his life as a POW to gain sympathy, speaks of change when he himself admitted that he agrees with George Bush 90% of the time, thinks the war was a success and still believes the surge is the beginning of the war when it was just a cover-up for the mistakes already made, can’t even pick a good VP (And if you believe Sarah Palin would make a great VP, you really have issues…), and believes the redistribution of wealth has not been a part of America since the dawn of the first tax.

And one more point: If Obama is now “The Redistributor” then what about everyone that came before him that had successful economic policies with the correct redistribution of taxes or “wealth”. Ronald Reagan improved our economy with the earned income credit so what does that make him? Bill Clinton helped turn our economy around with policies that benefited both the middle class AND the wealthy with redistribution of wealth in taxes so what does that make him? Our economy today is jacked up because the redistribution ONLY helps the wealthy and that has only gotten us to where we are today. Money hungry big wigs have taken advantage of our economy and are still escaping with tons of money while the workers who helped them get there are suffering and barely paying their bills. Don’t they understand that in order for their companies to run successfully they need customers. In order to have customers, the middle class needs tax cuts so they can BECOME customers to help their businesses grow. Yeah, if you’re a quarter of a millionaire, you’ll have to pay higher taxes but at least your helping the economy grow so that your business grows.

My wife and I were watching an episode of the view when Joy or Whoopi said “Would you rather be a millionaire in a higher tax bracket or in the middle class paying a lower tax bracket?” I would pick the former and I’m guessing the majority of you would choose the same.
