While some young people will chip in that "college is not for everyone", I usually retort that EDUCATION is for EVERYONE. And, things being what they are, it is more likely that you can educate and prepare yourself for life at a college or university than... doing whatever else option you fathom.

We have raised a generation that is, very broadly-writing, blitheringly ignorant and passionately disinterested in learning.

There are, still, millions of young people who are excited about education, learning, and becoming more intelligient and wise persons. So, despite my hard protests, there is hope.

And, in my own estimation, much of that hope can be harvested at colleges and universities.

Excellent piece.

No, of course college isn't for everyone.

But every young person needs some type of advanced education, even if it is a trade school.

Too many young people wind up giving up on high school because they see it as a dead end, rather than a stepping stone to further educational efforts that can prepare them for adulthood.
