Photo of the Day
December 29, 2008 by Marc Lamont Hill
Today’s photo of the day shows the Cowboys, who got their butts whupped by the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday. While I’m not the surprised that the Eagles won, I’m shocked that the Raiders and Texans were able to win and push us into the playoffs.

I can’t believe a .500 team makes the playoffs and an 11-5 team watches from home. I’m not a Pats fan but the AFC is just messed up. To me the biggest surprises of the season were the Ravens and Falcons, rookie coaches and QBs yet both make the playoffs, very impressive.

Ease up Blaxx don’t confuse my statement with hate, I actually like San Diego I just think they underachieved this year. My bigger issue is with the weak ass AFC West, worst division in the league, when a team can lose 8 games and still go to the playoffs that’s just crazy.

It’s like the ultimate exercise in futility LOL.

It’s nice to see the love for the Raider Nation this week. It’s been some tough years but the team looks to get back on track… Heck, at least we aren’t the Lions
I also thank the Chargers for ruin the Broncos season. But the Chargers won’t make it past Indy as they ALWAYS fall apart and choke in the playoffs. “Nerve” Turner won’t get them far and their SuperBowl trophy case will remain empty – hehe
If you’re a Titan fan, look forward to Kerry Collins’ under-pressure-overthrows. It will be the highlight of the game as you watch them lose.
At this point, the Colts and Giants maybe in the SB which will give us the old and tired story of the Manning brother’s going at it again. I hope not…
I’ll be rooting for the Cardinals only because Phoenix is my home but I know that fortune of rooting for them won’t last long so that energy will be transferred to the Eagles/Colts.
Hey did you hear that they will be moving the ProBowl in 2010 to after the AFC and NFC Championship playoff games and before the SuperBowl in the same location as the Superbowl (Miami)? All players advancing to the SuperBowl will NOT play in the ProBowl. The move is to remove the anti-climatic ending to the season. What are your thoughts?

Ummmm, they would have gone to the Super Bowl last year if Rivers, Tomlinson, Gates and Merriman weren’t all hurt in the AFC Championship game. Get it right

Philadelphia Soul killed the curse. First the Phillys and now we will be third six seed team in three years to win the superbowl. Defense need to play well use Buckhalter and Westbrook. Curtis needs to stay healthy. Donavan will be fine. Get past the Giants and we will get our rematch with the Panthers.

I would have said the same thing about Gannon getting his shoulder crushed by Big Tony Siragusa against the Ravens in the playoffs in 2001. I could also say that if Gruden didn’t know every single play the Raiders ran in Superbowl 37, the Raider’s could have won. But that’s no excuse. Good coaching would have provided good depth or a change in the playbook and they could have continued on. The Raiders lost in the AFC Championship and SuperBowl regardless of any excuse and they choked just like your Chargers do every year. Why? Bad coaching and personnel decisions.
So if your players get injured again this year, will you use the same excuse? You shouldn’t because they’ve been on this road before and should be prepared for it. Maybe Darren Sproles (shortest player but one of the most dynamic players in the NFL) can fill the void from LT2’s groin pull in that last game… Maybe

Which game was fixed? And why would you think the Raiders would win for the Eagles after the drama during the last 6 seasons. That win had nothing to do with Eagles but the love from the Eagles fans is a welcome surprise. The Raiders have not had a winning a season since Gruden’s… I mean Dungy’s Buccaneers trounced them in the Superbowl and Lane Kiffin’s father is their Defensive coordinator. There was a vendetta set on the Bucs for a long time and the Raiders were very happy to take the opportunity to knock the Bucs out of the playoffs. Plus, that’s what Gruden did to the Chiefs the year before he went to the SB. Karma’s a b!tch.
December 31, 2008 @ 3:52 am26. DCI74 wrote:
Plus the Bucs defense has been a mess ever since it was reported that Monte Kiffin was going to be leaving at the end of the season to join his son. The Bucs defense has completely tanked since that announcement so while I hear what you are saying Sammy the truth is the Lions would’ve probably beat the Bucs if they played them last week too.

and your right Samuel. The Raiders are garbage. So, why all of a sudden to they take pride in winning a game? its fixed i tell you. its fixed!

I can’t agree the Cowboys game was fixed. That would take credit from the Eagles and some deserved embarrassment from the Cowboys.
I wouldn’t call the Raiders “garbage”. Maybe “Milk on it’s expiration date” or “leftovers that haven’t spoiled yet after a few days” or “McCain’s election party, after Obama took Ohio” but not garbage. We’ll leave that term for the Lions, the Rams and the Chiefs.
The pride only comes in the fact that they stopped to teams in two weeks from going to the playoffs. The Texans were on a big hot streak and the Bucs felt it was their time to squeeze in the playoffs. The was the best 2 game win streak for the Raiders in 6 years. And yes, that sucks. But it gives them hope for next season.
