Photo of the Day

February 15, 2007 by Marc Lamont Hill

Today’s photo of the day is one of my all-time favorites. The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Dr. Martin Luther King, the two most important Black leaders of the 20th century, took the opportunity to sit down and discuss their views on America, race, civil rights, and the possibilities of white redemption. One day soon, when I write my book on Elijah Muhammad, I will closely examine the interesting relationship between these two Black heroes.

I second that. Is this book one of the works you currently have in progress or an idea you’ve been kicking around?

So am I. I hope to start working on this book within the next 5 years. Elijah Muhammad and his legacy mean a great deal to me and I want to write something special…

I thought Michael Eric Dyson would’ve tackled the Elijah’s story. I’d love to here M. Dyson or Marc provocatively address the Nation’s influence on the demise of Malcolm X. I believe Malcolm’s story. If he said the Nation orchestrated several failed attempts on his life – I believe him. He knew the Nation intimately! A very interesting subject.
