In a few hours, I will be getting on a plane to Tanzania, where I will be part of a conference on economic development in Africa. For this reason, I will be away from the Barbershop until Monday June 9, 2008. I’ve left some broad posts so that y’all can still come through and talk. Play nice!!!!!!!!

Peace and Love,

mlh

Good luck on your travels. I’m very curious to hear the outcome of said conference. Do you know if there will be representatives from the other 53 states of Africa at this conference?

There have been many such conferences before, and not only have they been entirely unrepresentative of the people they purport to selflessly want to shepherd out of penury, but the only resulting “economic development” of such conferences has always been in the bank accounts of the organising “philanthropists”.

I trust you are an honourable man though and know you wouldn’t get involved in any less than noble cause. Good luck.

TANGENTIALLY:

Word of Advice – Attitudes such as Ian Smith’s of BET’s Meet the Faith will be wholely counter-productive in any African country and to any African.

Ian Smith believes that Africans owe it to him as an African-American to understand HIS suffering, to put down their’s and get to know him better; that they owe him an explanation of some sort. (In truth of course, due to Hollywood and global American media, Africans know more about African-Americans than African-Americans could dream to know about Africans)

He didn’t get a representative of the white establishment on his show to chastise them for deliberately ignoring his suffering as an African-American, no, he got an African. Hmmm.

This of course has nothing to do with you Marc, just giving you the low-down as a born and bred and proud African.

SAFE JOURNEY.

Marc,

I wish you traveling mercies! It’s so good to see you make moves. Be safe and have fun.

Tell the Tanzanians to focus and capitalize on their diamond and oil structures. I just don’t get how they’re one of the poorest countries in the world, when they have so many natural resources.

Can you imagine if we got our oil from Tanzania and not the Middle East! Gas prices in America would go down and the economy in Tanzania would go up. Help them get on it Marc.

GOD Bless!

I, too and wondering what I will do for 5 days without the new & exciting ideas and the up to the minute news and the scathing “Onion” satire that I come here to get.

And, Timaree, as much as I would love to visit your site in the interim, I ain’t trying to attract any unnecessary attention for being on the internet at the SEX website. I’ll check you our at home, thank you very much. (And girl, don’t be shame, you know it ain’t nothin’ wrong with self-pluggery….pun totally intended ;) )
