I couldn’t agree more. Damn shame but at the same time, it’s hard to really be surprised about their acquittal. (((SSSIIIGGGHHH)))

I agree with ChgoSista..the verdict was no surprise. When I heard they were going to have a bench trial- where their fate is determined by the judge and not a jury- I knew what the outcome would be.
And I am also sad because if this wasnt an example of excessive force, then what is?

I just saw this on the Toronto Star’s website and spit out my coffee. This is fucked up right here, really fucked up. I think we should burn the city down

Blaxx- you need to stop…”we need to burn the city down”…u in Canada…lol…
and the folks need to do the opposite….everytime we as black folks dont get our way with the justice system shouldnt equate to burning and looting…becuase we only hurt OUR people…
NONVIOLENCE– unless you catch yo man in the bed with your best friend, mother, sister, etc…then I say cut his ass…hehehehe

Non-violence is not the only way. Let a Black cop shoot a white man, go to trial, and get acquitted. We will see how well non-violence theme will go. We have been trying non-violence for 40 yrs or more and we are still getting picked off. Hell, they (gov’t) even killed the prince of non-violence philosophy, MLK. Now, am I advocating that we brun the city down? No. But power only respects its own kind, power. Black males have little to no value or respect in the US (particularly from the police).
Now, I know that we can be our own worst enemy when it comes to violence, but that doesn’t negate the fact that these killers should be rotting behind bars or lying 6 ft deep.

@RegKam2: When black folks get to rioting and looting they do it in their own neighborhoods which is NOT the way to go. Thats what I meant by they only hurt themselves…We saw it during the Rodney King verdict….it solves nothing to burn down your own hood….

I agree Ann, but who said rioting and looting your own neighborhoods? Thats insanity. go directly after the person who attack u. If a raped a woman, she shouldn’t attack her daughter or her boyfriend, she should go after me. Until these officers understand that if they unjustly go killed our young males, we will go after them, the slaughtering will continue. Now, mind u there’s a million ways to skin a cat so I am not just talking about shooting them.

could have saved all our hard earned tax payers dollars…cause we all knew this was going to be the verdict from the get…hell the cops in the luima case got away…so why not these cops…I used to think that black men who had run-ins with cops deservingly got what was coming to them….but these past couple years have thought me a lot of stuff…if you’re a black male and you have a run-in with a cop there’s no winning…hey i might even end up dead for picking my nose or something and they’ll justify it by saying the cops were in fear of their lives cause they thought i was reaching for a gun…seriously I do not trust cops(both white and minority, male and female ones)…they are the biggest assholes in society…

So I sleep a little late today and I wake up to this bullshit. It’s sad, but why would we have expected anything else from the criminal justice system. God forbid cops should ever have to pay for murdering innocent men. So it doesn’t surprise me. Just like it won’t surprise me when this country elects John McCain. Now all these people are going to go spend their day marching and protesting and chanting, and for what? What’s it going to change? I say don’t waste your time, just go home and try not to become the next Sean Bell.
And still I see no changes. Can’t a brother get a little peace?

Justice was not served today, and all this does is strengthen the perspective that our people MUST be in an organization working for the people. Delegations from the NY chapter of my own, Sankofa Community Empowerment, are there and been buildin’ with folks for the last few months leading up to this; we need to be proactive and not reactionary when these atrocities occur. If we were more organized, then we could acutely measure and actualize our power base. Right now we’re building coalition efforts with Black legal teams, as well as connecting with Nicole Paultre’s family since the erroneous verdict (and challenging Judge Cooperman). We have to stop using the
“I’m busy” excuse and join a local org., or start a new one, or else these demonstrations, though necessary (”Agitate, Agitate, Agitate” – Kwame Toure), is almost like spinnin’ wheels in the mud.
ACTivists ACT, don’t just talk.

Why the hell was there a bench trial???? Those damn Judges are frickin fools!!!! Judges are never impartial, of course he was going to side with those damn cops, they all bat for the same team.
I wonder if it was the Judge’s son who was in the car that fatal night if his decision would be the same.
I am so a non-violent person, but I really want to go and raid some shit right now! We CAN NOT let this shit slide!!!

this is my ANTHEM right here…FUCK DA POLICE!!!…for real…
i was disappointed like everyone else, when i heard the verdict, and like everyone else, i’m not shocked…this is the sad reality, of the black man’s worth in america, which isn’t anything…and trust me, the pigs aren’t partial to women either…
prime example,
just two nights ago, i was pulled over by those assholes…it was 3am, and i was taking a friend home(mind you, that’s about 5 to 10 mins. from my place). as i was driving, i got to about 4 blocks away, from my friends place, and that’s when i saw those fuckin’ lights…immediately annoyed, and heated, i pulled my car over…the prick came over, and asked me for my license, insurance, and registration. i had all that, CHECK!…when i handed him my info, i asked him why did he pull me over. he instantly got annoyed, and started to talk to me in a condescending, nigga i’ll shoot you voice…talking about some, he pulled me over, because i made a right turn without signaling…mind you, i was the only muthafugga on the road at that time…so, i explained to him, that i actually merged onto the road (it was one of those tricky streets) from the right lane, and that i wasn’t too familiar with the road. it was an honest mistake…well, king prick was not trying to hear that shit…it’s like the more i spoke to him, the more annoyed he got…my friend, who’s a singer/songwriter, was in the passenger…i had my radio on low, so my friend’s listening to the radio, trying to tune asshole out…all of a sudden, he started flashing his light, all in my friend’s face, asking for I.D…my friend didn’t have an I.D at the time… the officer then came over to the passenger side, pulled my friend out the car, and started to frisk and call for back up…yes i said BACK-UP!…so now it’s 4 cop cars, surrounding my car, all of them with their lights on..pissing me the fuck off…so at this time, i’m looking at the officer, and asking him what the hell is going on?? at first, he ignored me, so i asked again…he then looked at me all prickish, and said, “you’re friend here, doesn’t have I.D and in the state of pennsylvania, you can be searched and if necessary arrested”…he then let my friend go, after not finding anything (duh!)…i then asked him, was all this necessary, because i forgot to use my signal?…he then came back over to my side, started flashing his stupid ass light in my face, and said, i’ll show you exactly how necessary it is…he then stepped off and sat in his vehicle, for about 30 minutes, he and his goons seeming like, they were having krimpets and koffee…he finally came back and tapped my window…i woke up, wiped the drool from my lip, and wound the window down…that’s when he shoved a $200.00 BILL into my hand, and told me that he didn’t give me one, for not wearing a seat belt, so i might wanna put it on, before i pull off…thanx officer…he then shoved the rest of my info into my hands and walked off…what was supposed to be a 10 minute run…turned into a 2hr fiasco…all for what?…
i’m not going to lie…the whole time i sat in my car, the thought of that asshole shooting my friend and i kept crossing my mind…the tension and aggression was sooo thick… the officer was too upset and hype from the get go…and at that moment, i knew what it felt like, to be a BLACK MAN in America…dude didn’t even try, not to give us a hard time, actually it looked as if he was enjoying himself…if it wasn’t for my friend, keeping me calm the whole time, i swear i would of flipped my lid…shit like this makes me sooo angry!
at some point in time, Black Folk must realize, we HAVE to get up off this…there’s no love for the black man in AMERICA…
peace.

wyltk, I understand you being upset and frustrated, but I think that when dealing with a prickish cop, its best to keep your mouth shut and follow orders (no matter how crazy they sound). The key is surviving the stop and then filing a complaint. You and your friend could have gotten killed for a traffic stop. Its too dangerous running off at the mouth with a guy with an itchy trigger finger. Many of have been shot for less. You have too much to live for than to debate with the po’ po. Glad that u are ok.

yeah i hear you Reg, the crazy thing is i wasn’t debating nor running my mouth to him…i just asked him, why did he pull me?…he got pissed instantly…and when he called all the other cars, i didn’t know what the hell was going on, so i had to ask him….that’s it, no attitude or anything…even though i was pissed, i kept my cool…dude just wanted to show off that night…it was just unfortunate, that he chose my friend and i, to show off on…it’s all good though, that’s why i’m joining the police academy, just so i can fuck king prick up in the locker room!…i got some Doc Martin’s, with his ass written all over them…it’s all good, don’t worry…
thanx for the words…
peace.

I guess there’s a lesson to be learned here for all of us. That being: Don’t speed away drunken and crash into a police vehicle at 4 in the morning when multiple officers approach your car with guns drawn. I will definitely carry this one with me.
