Video of the Day
December 15, 2008 by Marc Lamont Hill
Today’s video of the day shows, what else, George W. Bush ducking shoes at a press conference in Iraq yesterday. What do you think President-elect Obama would do if someone chucked shoes at him?

He must have taken shoe throwing notes from my moms… Now that’s gangsta!!!
In other news, for the remainder of the Bush Administion, all press corps members are asked to wear soft sole shoes to all press conferences.

Bush ducked dem shoes like a G that’s all I can say. Obama would have been rushed outta there so fast by the Secret Service as soon as dude made a move to take off his shoes. Seriously tho, dude got the opportunity to throw not one, but both of his shoes, was someone sleeping when they were supposed to be monitoring the crowd?

This reminds me of Random Task from the first Austin Powers movie.
“Owww, that really hurt. What kind of man throws his shoe?”

I did not want to speculate on what Barack would do! lol
But I do know Barack needs to stop trying to negotiate with the CIA to use his blackberry, and start negotiating with them to put more alert, quick on their feet brothers in the Secret Service!!!
Those agents were far to slow to react here. There is no way that man should have been able to throw the second shoe. Ideally, one of the agents should have been able to divert the course of the first shoe! Never thought I’d say this about US Secret Service Agents, but they need to upgrade their training! Pronto!

Notice, at the very beginning, HOW Bush leans in to give the Prime-minster a handshake=dap!!! lol Bush has some hood in him!
Also notice how the Prime-minister tries to block the second shoe from hitting Bush! Nouri really likes Bush! Or he’s just a really decent guy who would try to prevent anyone from getting hit!
BTW – Something just doesn’t sit well with me when people attack Bush, verbally or physically. I don’t know why! But I do know it’s not b/c he’s a Republican. It’s not party comradery, b/c there are a few Republicans I would like to see get hit with a shoe!

I don’t like people physically attacking Presidents or Prime Ministers or any head of state at all. Like those mufuckas that throw pies? If I was President and got hit by a pie, I’m putting whoever responsible under the jail.

Barack would have infered that a second shoe was coming and would have been OWT. “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.”

Bush deserved it……Obama I don’t know what he would do. If he did something for someone to throw a shoe at him, like Bush has, then I guess he deserves it too. All you can really do in those situations is duck lol

I would have like so Bush catch the shoe and throw it back at him then have the secret service hold the guy down and then Bush stomp the guy in the ground like Suge Knight or something. Im sick.

The man was expressing dissent. That is what one is entitled to do in a democracy. Imagine if the man threw his shoes at a guest of the former Iraqi “leader,” he be dead already!
as Ali notes, “FREE Muntadhar al-Zaidi!!!”

I felt some kind of way (a little) when the shoe came flying. Bush has gotten on my nerves for the past 8yrs (especially w/ Katrina) but let us bash him & throw “shoes” & slurs. He’s our President & its okay for us to do it but not them!!
I was glad he was able to duck & laugh it off (in the back of my mind I was wondering what the reaction would have been had the shoe hit him).

But his quick duck was impressive. It’s like he was expecting it. There must be an “thrown object avoidance” class presidents must take or something.

I wish people would realize that this act was not about the shoe (that is just the object of rage)…in order to understand that, you have to empathize and you have to REALLY understand what has happened in Iraq and understand the pain and anguish that now lives there because…(fill in the blank)…Bush is human like everyone else.
