Today’s video of the day comes from the O’Reilly Factor, where Bill, Larry Elder, and I debated the “Barack the Magic Negro” song.

I personal thought it was funny everytime Rush played that song. If a black person says it first then a white person is going to say that it is fair game to use it. A black writer call Obama “Barack the Magic Negro” in the beginning Al Sharpton was a little salty and thought Obama wasnt black enough for him. I thought it was funny personally, and I am a black man. If a white man called Bush George the Magic honky I and someone made a song about that I would find that funny also.

Wow Marc I’ve never seen you so agreeable towards O’Reilly lol that must be your holiday spirit bruh!

I was hoping somebody would address the reason why this Republican sent it out in the first place. I know it was already on air and I recall when this came up a while back but I don’t get why he chose to redistribute it to some of his people considering anything attached to Obama’s name is going to hit the mainstream media. What point was he trying to make or message was he trying to send? Did he mean it as a joke and is this a reflection of how some Republicans joke around?

“Double Reverse” LOL! I like that. That’s how you use a man’s own fat to fry him haha; he couldn’t move a muscle, you had him in a figure four headlock right there bruh. All he could do was point out how “nice” you were being lmao. Nice work Marc!

And what was up with his almost OCD like compulsion to keep repeating the word “satire”, as if that was going to change anyone’s mind. What a silly man.

This song was made a while ago wasn’t it? Long before the election and maybe even before the primaries were finished. Hmmmm, Larry Elder. I almost bought his book ‘Stupid Black Men’ last month. I ended up putting it back intending to come back for it later (I had over $300 worth of books in my arms already and I realized that I might have been overdoing it). I’m amped for the next ‘Whatcha Readin?, post LOL

the problem with the satire is that the whole “magical negro” theory doesn’t really suit barack obama. he’s a leading man, his own leading man, which is the primary reason why this satire isn’t funny. there’s not even a shred of truth in it. comedy, to be successful, must always have at least a shred of truth. so really, then, what you have, the real story, is a major republican party member exhibiting and distributing his own bad taste.

well Marc i agree with everyone when they say you’ve done a great job here, so there’s no need for me to elaborate…

but i will elaborate on your new look…

i don’t know if i’m feeling the goatee on you bruh…

i think you should fade the sides, darken and shape the ’stache, then darken and groom the beard….then you’ll be perfect…

are you having some kind of mid-life crisis Doc?

December 31, 2008 @ 3:30 pm

I’m sorry, but didn’t Marc always have a goatee? When the vid started I was like “Oh, Doc looks different, did he grow a full beard? No, still just a goatee” I swear he always had a goatee. If you got the chinstrap beard going (I can’t tell in the vid) that would be a good look but more people would probably start calling you Lamont, you’d be too rugged for Marc.

well you’re probably right blaxx, maybe it just looks darker or something…i dunno, either way i’m not feeling it…

just my opinion, shyt, but who am i??

rock on Doc :)

Wow, I can remember watching Elder when he was a tv judge. Anyhoo. I guess my biggest issue arises from the fact that we have a Black man (Elder) defending the actions of a White man (Limbaugh) who irreverently and insensitively positions two Black men against one another. Whatever contentions may exist or may have existed between Sharpton and Obama should be discussed and resolved on their own terms; both are great leaders in their own right and I am sure that they are capable of pulling off such a feat. Ignorance doesn’t need it’s own theme song :/

Just because I think he’s handsome does NOT mean that I do not think he is an inelligent and inspirational man. I cosign DC and WYLTK, i really didn’t think it was that deep. DCI74,

I have really sensitive ears when it comes to talk of masturbation and suggestive comments about hyper-sexuality. I’m wondering what would happen if a man was commenting? (ok, I’m done :) I think I get the joke :) (not trying to spoil people’s fun).

Lovely209,

I personally don’t think intelligence and sexiness are mutually exclusive…I think they are very connected.

Guess what I am concerned about is how can any of us approach these issues of sexuality in popular culture without dissecting our own thoughts or actions? that’s all I got to say. Not trying to spoil the fun, ohhhh!!! no drama :) go ahead Ms. Lovely209 and Mena! I’ll act like I didn’t hear all of that…lol.

LMAO @ muslim beard grease! If Dr. Hill shows up on Fox News lookin like Freeway next week I’m quitting. LOL.

And don’t think the title of the book ‘Stupid Black Men’ is offensive, it is just a counter to Michael Moore’s book ‘Stupid White Men’, that’s where the title gets its inspiration. He’s not a self hating black man by any means.

Funny how Lovely was the one catchin flak for her attraction to the good doctor but Mena went waaaaaaaaaaay out there with her comment. Girl, I think you need a man. Y’know, DC is single and on the market. I’ve been helping him find customers…..I mean dates…for the last little while, you should holla at me and we’ll get y’alls schedules in order.

JJG, I would say it’s a question of presentation. Bill evidently enjoys playing the game, and invests his ego in coming off as the smartest, most moral guy as often as he possibly can. I believe he’s egotistical enough to strive to achieve this goal even at the cost of saying something he doesn’t necessarily believe in. With that said, I don’t know his heart so I can’t say if he’s malicious or not, but his investment in his ego does make him malleable somewhat, and I guess that’s a good thing.

Hannity on the other hand: angry, spiteful, hateful, malicious white man. Beats me what he’s so angry about.

And Blaxx, stop fronting, you’d just rather have Mena do that ish to YOUR posts wouldn’t ya? LOL!

Blaxx,

I’m wondering who said Larry was a self-hating black man. I have listened to a lot of his commentary and I think he is a sophisticated thinker sometimes, even though I have tended to disagree with his approach.

Interesting that play off of Michael Moore’s book. I haven’t read it.

I personally find that title of the book offensive, for various reasons-particularly because the coded messaging of the TITLE (not the book itself- which I believe is about race-baiting)is not necessarily inviting black men to read it, so who is he writing for? (I think more himself, than for anyone else…lol). That’s just my opinion.

I would like to quickly address three points.

1. Larry Elders is a certified Uncle Tom, certified. There is much evidence to prove this and it has already been proven. Its not up for debate.

2. The article that appeared in the Los Angeles Times back in February of 2007 was an analysis moreso of how Obama is being treated in the media and seen by the American public. He was comparing it to the cinematic stereotype of the Magical Negro. That is the difference. If one (like the person who wrote the first comment) is not smart enough to know that and decides that such “satire” is now funny on that basis is sad and unfortunate. It shows one’s lack of worldliness and education. Rush Limbaugh has a track record for racism and such a song was meant to continue it.

3. Al Sharpton supports Barack Obama and has been a staunch supporter for some time. People have been trying and would love to put the two against each other but it is just not the case.

January 8, 2009 @ 8:14 am

46. Mikal wrote:

RhondaCoca First of all, Al Sharpton did not support Obama when the song was created. This skit was played during the primaries. AL Sharpton believed that Obama would not address issues important to black people and that is why he did not support him fully in the beginning.

Second of all, you might need to become aware of your enormous ego. To bring into question ones intellect based on what they find funny that leads me to believe that you just want to claim superiority by placing yourself on a high horse and putting other people down. You need to lighted up. You are probably one of those people that supported the march in Jena. If you find the skit offensive thats fine. But maybe you need to analyze why you are so offended. Maybe its your ego trying to defend its self. What ever it is always being offended in many cases leads to nowhere but misery.

By the way although I am trying not to label people I can agree with your description of Mr Elder. Talk about someone who wants approval from white conservatives so he can feel good about himself. So egoic, so sad.
