Video of the Day

May 8, 2009 by Marc Lamont Hill

Today’s video of the day has had me laughing for two days. In this video, Rafer Alston gives Eddies House a “Kufi Smack” during Game 2 of their series. I hope House’s kids weren’t watching the game…

Skip should know better and he wouldn’t be able to get away with that at the Rucker either.

He smacked him like he was his son!! Eddie House definitely loss some cool points. I would’ve had to swing on Alston for that.

Logic how did Eddie lose cool points for not slapping the taste out of Skip’s mouth, getting ejected and getting suspended for a game? I have mad respect for Eddie because he understands there is a much bigger prize, a championship. Swinging back at Skip might have made him feel better but he would’ve let down his team just like Rafer did. Rondo is going to be unstoppable tonight with him out of the game.

maaad cool pts for eddie not losing his cool. i’m not gonna lie, i was impressed ’cause this isn’t a reg season game, this is the playoffs: a time where fellas don’t take no funk from nobody. in a sport where testosterone/manly-macho is at such a consistent high for eddie to remain level headed and not snap really shows a lot about him as a man….he responded vs impulsively reacted. as a woman it was refreshing to not see yet another player go balistic when that could’ve easily turned into a mid-court brawl. and i think skip knows that’s all he could’ve gotten away with.

DC,
The whole idea behind being “cool” is rooted in external perceptions of your behavior relative to social norms. That said, he lost cool points. Now, as you stated, he did the right thing in the bigger picture, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t lose cool points.

Let me put it this way, did you laugh when you saw how Alston hit him upside the head? Keep it real.
If you did, then you proved my point.

Logic we don’t agree at all but whatever. I don’t give a damn about cool points when the 31 House dropped was much more important. You won’t find one Celtic that is more concerned with Eddie’s cool points than the career-playoff-high he put on the Magic. But to answer your question, no I didn’t laugh when Skip hit House, what made me laugh was House’s reaction but Skip looked like the eventual bigger fool for reacting instead of thinking like Eddie. I laughed because Skip basically handed Game 3 to the Celtics for not keeping a cool head. Like I said before Skip is smart and he knows he wouldn’t even do that at the Rucker so this was the epitome of stupid for him. Keeping one’s cool under pressure takes work and effort, it takes nothing to just react without thinking and that’s why Skip is riding the pine tonight and his pockets are lighter while Eddie is at shootaround right now lol, and I find that hilarious.

DC,

“I don’t give a damn about cool points” either, but that doesn’t change the fact that he lost some. You must be a celtics fan because you gettin too heated about this.

In the words of the classic-Menace to Society…

If that was (Eddie) in that video, he got his ass beat. I don’t give a f**k what you talking ’bout”

Lol you’re funny. First off I’m a basketball fan not a Celtics fan, I enjoy seeing good basketball and I’m excited that more drama like this is in the second round which hopefully well be a great intro to a good Finals series so the only vested interest I have is of someone who wants to see good basketball, period lol it’s not serious at all. We’re just seeing the same thing differently, I say Eddie earned more of my respect and you say he lost some cool points you feel are important and neither of us are wrong.

gonna watch the game tonight on the screen with my buddies.
but the celtic blog said…
“…Alston also said he he wasn’t surprised he got suspended, but said House also deserve some blame for the altercation.

“I have to get past it and move on,” Alston said. “I have to get past it and move on. A suspension, that’s the rule, anything above the shoulders warrants a suspension. You deal with it, take it on the chin, and move on.”

However, Alston suggested House was the instigator.

“In the heat of battle, he knew what he did,” Alston said. “He threw a sharp elbow. Me being a man, that’s what I did. I apologized to my teammates, it hurts that have to miss Game 3.

“[But the Celtics] have been taunting the last two years. That’s what they do.’’….” Celtics blog.

there you go…strategy!

But Dr. Hill, seriously man, lay off his kids!

Strategy? More like self restraint-but that’s cool too.

DC, you puttin words in my mouth. I never said that cool points were important, I just said that he lost some.

Logic you didn’t have to say cool points are important because the fact that you mentioned them indicates that they hold some importance otherwise why mention it in the first place? If the societal norm wasn’t relevant or had some kind of importance to you, you would’ve never even acknowledged it at all. Lol that statement makes no sense, again we’re just seeing the same thing differently, there is no right or wrong answer.

Skip was right econ, House definitely was the instigator but in both the NBA and NFL the refs for the most part don’t catch the first guy but always seem to catch the one who retaliates. It just sets a great stage for tonight’s game.

” I laughed because Skip basically handed Game 3 to the Celtics for not keeping a cool head. ”

I guess you spoke too soon…DC, that’s the sound of me smacking you on the back of the head :)

Before you have a fit, I’m just messing with you. Be cool.
