Video of the Day – Dry Snitching at Its Best/Worst
September 19, 2006 by Marc Lamont Hill
(Note: This video contains sexually explicit descriptions of romantic trysts between Carmen and your favorite rapper/basketball players)
As many of you know, Carmen Bryan, Nas’ former love interest is writing a tell-all book about her relationships with Diddy, Nas, Jay-Z, and Allen Iverson. Below is an excerpt from an interview about her upcoming book “Sex, Drugs, and Hip-Hop… Oh And Did I Mention Love?”
This video and Bryant’s upcoming book raises issues about the ethical and moral responsibility of all parties. Does she owe Iverson and Diddy secrecy? Does she have a right to make public confessions that implicate others? As I discuss in my upcoming snitching book, this is a complex issue that forces as to think about the cultural politics of gossip and rumor.
It’ll be interesting to see how Bryant’s book will effect the current hip-hop game.

I read it too. I borrowed it from library. I didn’t purchase it. I actually walked away from her story feeling a little sad too, for various reasons.
Does this chick have a traumatic childhood story too or is she just being stank?

I think she’s just being stank Hal. She was just a groupee that doesnt know when and how to stop. And thats what I dont get. When did it become cool to be tossed around the industry like that? I didnt read Karrine’s book, but Ting swears it’s a good read.

Ummmm… I wouldn’t say it was a good read. (Ting has been reading those textbooks too long.) It was a page turner only because you wanted to know how she got out of the sticky situations (no pun intended) that she was in. Good? no. Entertaining? yes.
It’s not cool to be tossed around the industry unless you are being tossed (again, no pun intended) by a celebrity. If her name was LaQuita and she was was screwing DJ Quik no one would give a shit.

I should say a celebrity that people care about at the moment. Although DJ Quik still wouldn’t rank high on my list.

And that’s all you have to do in order to become part of a legacy? Have a child? I don’t think so…(where is my hand icon when I need it?)

So why not just call her a professional Vic? People choose many different careers. Some wrap big macs for a living, some generate rap fueds, some choose to become public intellectuals.
Halley, is the Virgin Mary not part of God’s legacy since she birthed Jesus??
